Fall is an important time to review your pool policies and safety equipment.

As the fall time weather is here and many pools are soon to be closing, now is an important time to review your pool policies and safety equipment. Pool injuries/deaths during the off-season should always be a top concern…for those who own apartments, HOAs, condos, commercial and other multifamily real estate buildings/assets.

Below are several articles related to pool drownings–and a reminder how quickly a person can be in trouble around water…no matter what their age. Please share these stories with those on your leadership, leasing and maintenance teams~

Boy, 6, drowns at apartment community pool

To consider:

==>> What are your best-practices for closing your swimming pools for the winter season…to make sure everything is in proper order?

==>> Within your multifamily property management company—-what are your policies/procedures for how often your pool equipment is checked? For best-practices in our property management industry focused on pool safety and equipment, surf here: http://www.powerhour.com/propertymanagement/employeepolicymanuals.html

==>> At each of the multifamily apartment communities you own/manage…who is responsible for making sure your entrance/exit gates are in working order and that none of the equipment is missing or broken?

==>> How often do those on your multifamily property management team send communication to your rental housing residents—reminding them that your pools are closed for the season?

Focusing on pool safety…how does this tie into your real estate and apartment/commercial building insurance coverage?

What do your insurance policies require…regarding the equipment, gates, and posted rules for the pools at the apartment properties you own/manage?

Would you like our team to do a comprehensive review of your multifamily real estate building insurance coverage—related to pool safety?
